“Mother’s love is bliss, is peace, it need not be acquired, it need not be deserved. If it is there, it is like a blessing; if it is not there it is as if all the beauty had gone out of life.” Erich Fromm
I know husbands and dads are super important and I just love the men in my life but this is just for all the special moms, mothers and grandmothers who need a shout out.
Mothers, know that you are doing a great job. Thanks to my mother for being there for us (5kids!!), Things my Mother Taught Me.
Being a mom is pretty cool but retaining my own Identity has been an issue for me, separating my life and who I am as an individual with me as a mom, wife and daughter. I used to think it was one or the other but now I realise I can be all of these. I have settled into these roles and embrace all the challenges that come along with each.
Motherhood is not a competition to see who can sacrifice the most. We are entitled to a life of pleasure and enjoyments of our own.
I am openly and proudly perfectly imperfect and am the first to admit that often I don’t know what I am doing alot of the time.
✯ To the grandmothers, aunts, sisters and friends who step in for mom when she can’t be there.
✯ To the new moms who are still anxious and sleep deprived (don’t worry, this too shall pass).
✯ To the single moms who do all this on their own.
✯ To the moms who spend the time they should be exercising, cooking, cleaning and fetching kids.
✯ To the moms who manage the house, the kids and still do a full day job.
✯ To the stay at home moms who dedicate time to raising their kids.
✯ To the moms who were up at 3.00am with sick kids and still have to go to work the next day.
Thanks to all of you amazing moms everywhere for keeping it real.
“Youth fades; love droops; the leaves of friendship fall; A mother’s secret hope outlives them all.” Oliver Wendell Holmes
